Hydrogen Combustion and Safety Modelling Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified researcher to contribute to pioneering research in hydrogen combustion and safety modelling.

  • Conduct advanced research on hydrogen combustion dynamics, reaction mechanisms, and safety modelling.
  • Develop and validate computational models to predict hydrogen combustion behavior and associated safety risks.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate research findings into practical safety guidelines and industrial applications.
  • Publish high-quality research papers in reputable journals and present findings at international conferences.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students and research assistants.

This project focuses on the combustion fundamentals of hydrogen, ammonia, their blends, and their blends with hydrocarbon fuels. The knowledge acquired will enable the penetration of zero-carbon fuels in the Singapore energy system, benefiting industries and residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Refined kinetic experiments to create new and validated kinetic schemes
  • Lab-scale turbulent flames
  • Experiments with GT combustors at high pressures and with an optical cell
  • Detonations and ignitability of leaks

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on combustion, fluid dynamics, or safety modelling.
  • Strong background in hydrogen combustion, numerical simulations (e.g., CFD), and safety analysis.
  • Proficiency in relevant modelling tools and software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, PeleC, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated strong track record of publications in high-impact journals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred qualifications include experience in hydrogen energy systems or renewable energy research and knowledge of risk assessment and safety standards related to hydrogen technologies.
