AVP, Financial Controller

Overview

AVP, Financial Controller - Deal & Asset Finance at GIC. GIC is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds with over 2,000 employees across 11 offices. We invest across more than 40 countries globally and provide financial operations to GIC’s private equity, infrastructure, and real estate assets, including tax structuring, corporate holding structures, valuations, and financial reporting. You will be part of the Investment Finance & Controllers team, supporting Asia’s Private Markets portfolio in finance, accounting, and reporting aspects of deal support and ongoing monitoring of investment structures and valuations.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders throughout the investment lifecycle and support the Team Lead in finance transformation initiatives.

• Deal Finance
  • Collaborate with Investment Teams, Transaction Managers, Tax, Legal, Capital Markets, and external advisors to provide finance expertise during investment, divestment, restructuring, and loan financing activities
  • Manage financial due diligence and review findings / purchase price adjustments during investment, divestment, and restructuring
  • Establish financial operations and controls for wholly owned investments
  • Evaluate financial controls and onboard non-wholly owned investee companies / assets
  • Provide financial and operational inputs on holding structures, funding and cash repatriation mechanisms, and accounting / valuation considerations
  • Oversee investment holding platform, including corporate secretarial and financial reporting
  • Partner with operations to fulfill operational requirements, including liaising with banks on funding
• Asset Finance
  • Monitor key financial controls for asset operations, review investee financials, and liaise with external auditors
  • Analyze surplus cash of investments and drive cash repatriation solutions with Investment Teams, Treasury, and investee companies
  • Prepare and review market valuation for private investments within policy and provide insights on market value movements and returns analysis
• Others
  • Assist in designing and implementing finance improvement initiatives and analytics as part of Finance Transformation

• Strong academic background in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
• Certified Public Accountant preferred, ideally Big 4 trained
• 6–8 years of relevant experience, preferably in Private Markets Investment Finance or Investment/Asset Management
• Good understanding of deal closing mechanisms, investment structuring and controls
• Strong teamwork, interpersonal, communication, analytical, and IT skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with initiative; capable of managing multiple tasks, engaging stakeholders, and delivering independently
