Cybersecurity Architect

The Cybersecurity Architect will be responsible for the strategic planning, design, and implementation of robust and scalable security architectures across our enterprise IT and network environments. This hands-on role requires a deep understanding of both cybersecurity principles and modern networking technologies. The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic problem-solver who can translate business requirements into secure technical solutions, ensuring that security is embedded into every layer of our infrastructure from the ground up Perform periodic security reviews and audits of infrastructure security systems to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR). Develop and maintain documentation of security standards, procedures, and guidelines for system and network configuration. Conduct security reviews and threat modeling of new technologies, business applications, and network designs to identify and mitigate risks early in the development lifecycle. Key Job Duties & Responsibilities - Collaboration & Leadership Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques, particularly those targeting network infrastructure. Collaborate closely with network engineering, software development, and IT operations teams to ensure secure design principles are implemented effectively. Provide expert guidance and mentorship to other team members on security best practices and architecture patterns. Key Job Duties & Responsibilities - Security Architecture & Design Develop and maintain security architecture artifacts, including blueprints, patterns, and standards, to guide and govern technology implementations. Architect and implement Zero-Trust Network models, ensuring strict identity verification and least-privilege access across all users and devices. Design, develop, and document comprehensive secure system architectures for new and existing applications, cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP), and on-premises data centers. Key Job Duties & Responsibilities - Network-Centric Security Integration Design and integrate critical network security controls, including next-generation firewalls (NGFWs), intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS), web application firewalls (WAF), and secure web gateways (SWG). Architect segmentation strategies (micro-segmentation and macro-segmentation) to isolate critical assets and contain potential security breaches. Required Qualifications & Experience A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a cybersecurity architecture, engineering, or a closely related role. Candidates must also meet one of the following two criteria: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, Science (Computer Studies), or a related field. A minimum total of three years' work experience in one of these job titles: Cybersecurity Architect, Cybersecurity Engineer, ICT Security Engineer, Security Architect, or Information Systems Security Developer Strong understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSI model) and network security architectures Technical Skills & Competencies - Security Technologies Hands-on experience with security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, endpoint protection, and identity and access management (IAM). Technical Skills & Competencies - Cloud Security Practical experience designing and implementing security controls in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Experience with threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, DREAD) to identify and prioritize potential threats Technical Skills & Competencies - Analytical Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex systems and identify security risks Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Preferred (Nice to Have) Qualifications Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security principles. Relevant professional certifications such as: Network Security: Cisco CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Fortinet NSE 5,6,7. General Security: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for security orchestration.
