Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.Job Description/Preferred QualificationsResponsibilities:Perform mechanical design of precision components, subsystem/system to support the development of the next generation semiconductor metrology equipment.Own and drive the mechanical design process:Gather and uncover technical requirements and translate them into subsystem specifications. Conduct preliminary feasibility studies through engineering first principles and/or experiments. Propose and complete the design from conceptual design, detailed design to detailed drawings. Conduct analysis and simulations, including structural, thermal, vibration/modal Finite Element Analyses (FEAs). Participate and lead design reviews to obtain a peer-oriented design assessment. Plan and execute design verification/validation:Fit/form test on sub-assembly/system, which includes hands-on work in the cleanroom building/assembling the first few mechanical assemblies. Perform risk analysis, develop test plans with well defined test criteria, and execute verification testing of subsystems and systems. Supplier management:Ensure all design requirements are appropriately specified and parts quality meets specifications with inspection on incoming components.
