ACADEMIC FACULTY APPOINTMENT: The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is seeking a Tenure-Track Associate/Assistant Professor of Family Medicine to contribute to the development of research and teaching at the School.
This faculty member will be expected to undertake high-quality internationally leading research in the area of cancer in primary care within the Population and Global Health Research Programme, in line with the overarching research strategy of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine), in addition to other duties as assigned by the Vice Dean, Research and Dean.
Key Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
  • The appointee will conduct high-quality research in cancer in primary care, focusing on prevention and early detection, aligning with the research strategy of the School and collaborating with other recent appointments.
  • The appointee will teach and educate medical students and postgraduate research students, utilizing team-based learning and e-learning methods.
  • The appointee will integrate population and global health into the MBBS curriculum and ensure excellence in these areas, including team-based delivery of the curriculum.
Primary Activities:
  • The appointee will engage in high-quality research activities, sustaining a personal research plan, developing innovative proposals, managing and undertaking research, publishing in international peer-reviewed journals, and reviewing manuscripts and grant applications when necessary.
  • The appointee will seek competitive grants and collaborative industry funding to establish a sustainable research program.
  • The appointee will contribute to, support, and develop teaching and educational activities at undergraduate and graduate levels, supervising students.
  • The appointee will develop and support research projects, including interdisciplinary initiatives, with faculty members in Population and Global Health, Family Medicine, and across the NTU community, focusing on population and global health, family medicine, and cancer prevention and early detection.
  • The appointee will supervise and mentor junior faculty members and research staff.
  • The appointee will participate in academic committees and meet administrative requirements as needed.
Person Specification:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
  • MBBS/MD and/or PhD degree(s)
  • Relevant postdoctoral or clinical experience
  • A significant record of translational clinical research and teaching with high scientific achievement, productivity, and impact in family medicine.
  • Experience in working on cancer detection in primary care, including genomics and/or diagnostics, would be an advantage.
Management and Teamwork:
  • Ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work cooperatively with medical and non-medical staff
  • Ability to supervise research staff and students
Communicating and Influencing:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Strong presentation skills
