Key Responsibilities

  • Lead installation, configuration and management of PostgreSQL databases supporting banking/credit card transaction systems.
  • Architect and implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies compliant with PCI-DSS and financial regulations.
  • Perform advanced performance tuning and query optimization for high-volume transactional workloads.
  • Oversee database security, encryption, and auditing to protect sensitive financial data.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders, developers and security teams on database design and compliance.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical leadership on database projects.
  • Manage replication, clustering and failover solutions to ensure zero downtime.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex database issues.
  • Develop and enforce database standards, documentation and best practices.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and ensure database compliance.
  • Drive automation of database maintenance and monitoring tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 7 years of PostgreSQL DBA experience, with at least 3 years in credit card domain.
  • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, replication, clustering and security
  • Expertise in PCI-DSS compliance and financial data governance
  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation
  • Experience with cloud-managed PostgreSQL services and containerization
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Finance or related field
