Electrical Project Leader

Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Project Manager to lead our electrical project team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for the overall execution of electrical projects from initiation to completion.

Your primary objective will be to ensure that all electrical projects are completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. You will be responsible for managing a team of electrical engineers and technicians to design, develop and implement electrical systems for our power plant.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and quality assurance to ensure that all aspects of the project are properly managed and executed.

In this role, you will be required to monitor and report progress, supervise and coordinate various construction activities related to electrical systems, and ensure compliance with plans and schedules.

You will also be responsible for attending meetings with EPC contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the project is executed on time. Additionally, you will establish and maintain regular communications and consultations with primary points of contact involved in the project, such as consultants, contractors, and other staff.

You will identify areas for value engineering opportunities and take up EPC for implementation and project cost-saving measures. You will also advise senior management on work challenges, unusual risks, and/or threats to project success, including likely defects.

Furthermore, you will participate in site budgeting processes as needed and ensure that installation and commissioning are done in accordance with agreed procedures and quality documentation. You will resolve conflicts arising out of project issues and be responsible for achieving mechanical completion of the project related to electrical systems, ensuring that it is achieved within the time and budget.

You will develop systems, processes, and SOPs for capturing punch lists and ensure that these punch lists are liquidated within an agreed timeline and to the satisfaction of asset management teams. You will review and comment on commissioning procedures and checklists in coordination with asset management teams. You will also participate during all commissioning checks and tests and be responsible for successfully conducting plant performance tests as per the agreed contract. Finally, you will coordinate with EMA and related regulatory compliances and perform any other jobs assigned by the Project Director.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in power generation from an accredited college or university.
• At least 10-12 years of relevant power plant project experience in Singapore. Should have worked in all electrical systems of a power plant. Expertise in Generator, GT Transformer, and switchyard is essential.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in monitoring electrical-related activities at job sites.
• Confident in abilities and proven track record.
• Must be able to plan and conduct engineering reviews of proposals, plans, estimates submitted by contractors, consultants, with a view to making recommendations to management.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with use of international codes of practice and familiarity with local SS codes of practice for electrical work.
• Understanding of power generation project procedures and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to communicate well with team members and being a team player.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all trades.
• Must be computer literate, with experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.
• Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.
