Role Overview The Head of Marine role serves as a senior leader who delivers insurance and risk management solutions in the marine space. The role combines sophisticated client advisory with leadership on broking, market relationships, and business development. Responsibilities include setting strategic direction, providing broking and consulting services, and driving growth and innovation of marine risk management and insurance offerings. Key Responsibilities Lead the Singapore Marine retail team to achieve financial targets and oversee operational and personnel processes. Provide guidance and support on technical, client‑servicing matters and business growth. Build, motivate and maintain a cohesive high‑performance team that is highly engaged. Mentor staff in professional development, including training staff to be key client‑relationship managers for key marine clients. Drive budgeting, forecasting, and pipeline management to achieve financial goals. Manage key client relationships, discover client needs, evaluate risk exposures, and recommend appropriate risk‑management strategies and insurance solutions. Review and advise on clients’ contractual insurance requirements with project owners, contractors and financiers. Advise on local statutory insurance requirements and stay updated on industry regulations and risk‑management standards. Prepare and review insurance proposals, policies and endorsements. Lead negotiations with major clients and maintain relationships with senior executives. Drive new business pitches, RFP responses, and cross‑selling efforts. Identify new market opportunities and drive business growth for the team and CRS. Design, structure, negotiate and place major insurance programs, including regional and global programmes. Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with insurers and underwriters in marine. Own and drive utilization of placement facilities for marine risks. Ensure marine claims are progressed efficiently and effectively for clients. Develop thought‑leadership content for clients and markets, contributing to up‑to‑date materials on market trends, carrier appetite and marine client solutions. Collaborate closely with other Aon teams to deliver a broad range of insurance solutions and services to clients. Implement and utilize client‑related value propositions, systems and processes including Aon Brokers Guide and Aon Client Leadership. Participate in projects and cross‑department collaborations, develop and share solutions beyond own immediate team. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree or Diploma; general insurance academic qualifications, ACII or equivalent advantageous. At least 12 years of experience in the marine insurance industry. Meticulous, proactive and able to multi‑task efficiently. Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational and leadership skills. Ability to analyze complex contracts and policy documents. Strong analytical mind with business acumen. A team player.
