Job Purpose
Our client is seeking an experienced Professional Officer (Mechanical Engineering) to join their team. In this role, you will contribute to applied learning by designing and delivering practical modules, mentoring students in projects and work-study programmes, and supporting industry-linked applied research. You will also manage laboratory facilities and equipment, ensuring safe and effective operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and facilitate laboratory and practice-based modules
  • Mentor students in projects and integrated work-study programmes
  • Lead or support industry innovation projects and applied research
  • Manage laboratories, equipment, and technical resources
  • Uphold and enforce laboratory safety standards
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's/PhD and professional certifications (e.g., PE) are advantageous
  • 10+ years of industry experience in mechanical/mechatronics design, systems integration, or related areas
  • Strong skills in CAD (SolidWorks), simulations (FEA/CFD), and hands-on prototyping/fabrication
  • Knowledge of complex mechanical systems, materials/components selection, actuators, pumps, hydraulics, and PLC/control systems
  • Passion for innovation, problem-solving, and applied research projects
  • Strong mentoring and supervisory skills, with interest in guiding students in an educational environment
