Engineering Manager, Digital Economy Products (DEP)GovTech Singapore is the lead agency driving Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives and public sector digital transformation. GovTech develops capabilities in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Application Development, Smart City Technology, Digital Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity. What you will be working on Digital transformation within the public sector is at the heart of GovTech's work. You will tackle technically challenging problems in a product‐like environment, addressing underserved public sector needs across programs such as healthcare, manpower transformation, trade facilitation, national development, HR and Finance products. You will lead technical direction and processes for one or more teams, and drive design, implementation, and delivery of one or more products owned by your team. Your responsibilities will include: Defining your team's engineering vision, strategy, and directions aligned with the organization's goals. Partnering with stakeholders to prioritize and manage roadmaps toward the product vision. Creating a long‐term technical plan and roadmap for the assigned team and, when needed, other teams; updating the roadmap to meet future needs. Working with engineers to provide performance feedback, mentoring, and professional growth opportunities. Collaborating with cross‐functional partners to develop quality, reliability, and security strategies. Identifying and initiating engineering initiatives to maximize impact for the public good. Establishing practices and tools to foster a strong engineering culture and effectiveness. Supporting recruitment, particularly for senior hires. What we are looking for Experience with large, high‐availability software systems operating at scale. Experience in modern full‐stack web technologies; front‐end (Next.js/React.js) and back‐end (Java/TypeScript) skills preferred. Strong leadership mindset with relevant soft skills beyond technical abilities. Passion for engineering excellence and teamwork in software craftsmanship. Interest in public service and public good. Ability to guide a team to achieve important goals together. 2+ years of experience coaching developers and helping them grow.
