The Mechanobiology Institute at the National University of Singapore is a leading multi-disciplinary institute devoted to developing new paradigms for understanding biological functions in health and diseases from the perspective of cell, tissue and organ mechanics/dynamics and mechano-signal transduction.

Prof. Hanry Yu seeks a highly motivated individual to join his laboratory as a Research Fellow. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting research on flavour and aroma profiles of cultivated meat, with a focus on flavour chemistry and strategies to modulate and enhance aroma development in cell-based systems.

Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scale-up strategies for cultivated cells to support the development of cost-effective, consumer-ready cultivated meat prototypes, assisting other research projects on mechanobiology, liver tissue engineering, biomaterials and imaging, overseeing budget management and proposal/report writing for research project.

To be successful in this role, candidates should hold a PhD in food science, food technology, chemistry, medicine or biomedical engineering from highly reputable universities or academic institutes, have experience in cultivated meat research and tissue engineering, demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possess good team player skills demonstrated in research teams, have a good track record in publication, and demonstrate ability to lead, think and work across disciplinary boundaries.

  • PhD in food science, food technology, chemistry, medicine or biomedical engineering from highly reputable universities or academic institutes.
  • Experienced in cultivated meat research and tissue engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill.
  • Good team player demonstrated in research teams.
  • Good track record in publication.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, think and work across disciplinary boundaries.
