Roles & Responsibilities A Woodworking Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a woodworking shop or construction site, ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the required standards. Their duties span from managing people and resources to ensuring quality and safety compliance. Below are the key duties: 1. Project Planning and Coordination · Schedule Work : Develop work schedules for the team, ensuring that project timelines and deadlines are met. · Resource Allocation : Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are available and utilized efficiently. · Project Monitoring : Track the progress of ongoing projects, ensuring work stays on schedule and within budget. 2. Team Supervision and Leadership · Team Management : Supervise carpenters, woodworkers, and apprentices, providing guidance, training, and feedback. · Delegation of Tasks : Assign specific tasks to workers based on their skills and the needs of the project. · Conflict Resolution : Address any conflicts or issues within the team, maintaining a positive and productive work environment. 3. Quality Control and Safety · Quality Assurance : Inspect all work for quality and ensure that it meets the required specifications, including precision, finish, and structural integrity. · Safety Compliance : Ensure all workers are adhering to safety protocols and using tools and equipment properly. Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety measures. · Risk Management : Identify potential hazards in the workspace and take proactive steps to mitigate risks. 4. Health and Environmental Management · Environmental Considerations : Ensure that the team follows environmentally responsible practices, such as recycling and proper disposal of materials. · Health Compliance : Ensure compliance with health regulations, especially regarding dust, ventilation, and other airborne contaminants. 10. Continuous Improvement · Process Optimization : Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reduce inefficiencies, and improve quality. · Innovation : Stay up to date with new woodworking technologies and trends, suggesting improvements to the team's tools, methods, and processes. Key Skills : · Leadership : Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. · Technical Proficiency : Expertise in woodworking tools, materials, and techniques. · Problem Solving : Ability to handle unexpected issues and find practical solutions. · Attention to Detail : Ensuring work meets the highest standards of quality. · Communication : Ability to communicate effectively with workers, managers and management. Requirements: · Nationality : Singaporeans. · Educatio n: ITE/Diploma, or related field. · Experience : At least 5-7 years of experience in woodworking, carpentry, or a related trade, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. · Technical Skills : Proficiency in woodworking techniques, carpentry, and the use of woodworking machinery (e.g., saws, drills, sanders, and lathes). · Knowledge of MS Project Remuneration: · Salary: S$ 3,000.00 to S$4,500.00 (depending on experience).
