Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting research and operational activities related to immersive training simulators.

This includes preparing and managing data for simulations, assisting with technical setup and user guidance during simulator and VR demonstrations, and supporting documentation and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide basic technical support and guide users during simulator or VR demonstrations for site visits, events/courses, and exhibitions.
  • Support technical and training support on the operation of Methanol Handling VR sessions during the transition to the Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA).
  • Support the centre's immersive technologists to prepare data to support immersive Training Simulators operations.
  • Support documentation activities for the above activities.
  • Perform accurate data labelling tasks like drawing bounding boxes, segmentation masks, text annotation, speech annotation on annotation tools at acceptable quality and speed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with simulation systems, VR/AR technologies, or related immersive tools.
  • Knowledge of data management practices and understanding of recording and organizing technical data.
  • Ability to assist in troubleshooting hardware and software used in simulators.

Analytical Skills

  • Attention to detail in data handling and documentation.
  • Ability to follow protocols and standard operating procedures accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new technical concepts and systems related to immersive technologies.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to support user guidance and documentation tasks.
  • Team-oriented with ability to work collaboratively with technologists, researchers, and event participants.

Educational Background

  • Diploma, or ongoing studies in fields such as Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related discipline.
