Electrical Plan Approval Specialist

As an Electrical Plan Approval Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the electrical safety and integrity of ships, yachts, and marine equipment.

  • Conduct thorough surveys and inspections of onboard installations, including hull structures, machinery, and safety systems to identify potential electrical hazards.
  • Review and assess electrical drawings and documentation for newbuilds and conversion projects to ensure compliance with international statutory codes, classification rules, and flag state requirements.
  • Develop and maintain precise, clear, and timely reports for surveys and plan approvals to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Provide technical advice and support to clients and fellow surveyors to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate effectively with shipowners, shipyards, designers, and flag authorities to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field; OR Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1 as a Marine Engineer Officer.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical plan approval with a recognized classification society.
  • Strong understanding of IMO conventions, regulations, and classification rules.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a class surveyor is an advantage but not essential.
