Electrical Engineer Position in Marine Industry

Our organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in the marine industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing surveys and inspections on merchant ships, yachts, and marine equipment, including hull structures, machinery, safety systems, and other onboard installations.

  • Perform surveys and inspections on merchant ships, yachts, and marine equipment to ensure compliance with international statutory codes and regulations.
  • Review, assess, and approve electrical drawings and related documentation for newbuilds and conversion projects.
  • Ensure adherence to classification rules, international statutory codes (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL), and flag state requirements.
  • Produce precise, clear, and timely reports for surveys and plan approvals.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline; OR Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 1 as a Marine Engineer Officer.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical plan approval with a recognized classification society.
  • Strong understanding of IMO conventions, regulations, and classification rules.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and travel as needed.
