Junior Network Engineer

RESPONSIBILITES: 1. Network Monitoring and Operations Monitor network infrastructure including switches, access points, and communication links through network management systems, ensuring prompt response to alerts and incidents. Conduct daily operational checks, maintain comprehensive logging practices, and generate regular reports on network performance. Track network uptime metrics and ensure adherence to Service Level Agreement requirements.2. Technical Support and Troubleshooting Provide first-level technical support for Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, and Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Perform systematic fault isolation and initial technical analysis to identify root causes. Document all troubleshooting activities and escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior engineering staff with detailed incident reports and analysis.3. Infrastructure Maintenance and Installation Execute device installation, replacement, patching, labelling, and cable tracing activities. Perform routine maintenance tasks including firmware updates, port functionality testing, cabling inspections, and configuration backups. Demonstrate proficiency in structured cabling standards and perform copper and fibre optic cable patching, termination, cleaning, and continuity testing procedures.4. Contractor Coordination and Safety Oversight Coordinate and supervise contractors during structured cabling projects and outdoor equipment rack installations, ensuring adherence to workplace safety requirements. Support various cabling projects through vendor coordination or direct execution based on project scope and complexity. Utilise specialised testing equipment including Optical Time Domain Reflectometers, power meters, light sources, and cable certifiers to validate network link performance.5. Documentation and Compliance Management Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all incidents, troubleshooting procedures, and escalation activities. Update asset inventories, patching documentation, and network topology diagrams under senior supervision. Ensure strict compliance with Workplace Safety and Health regulations during all fieldwork activities.6. Standby and Emergency Response Participate in scheduled standby rotations and duty roster assignments, providing coverage during evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Deliver timely status updates to end users, vendors, and senior engineering personnel during incident response activities. Maintain service continuity and facilitate clear communication protocols during issue escalation processes.7. Performance Standards Ensure all cabling work maintains neat, safe, and compliant installation practices. Demonstrate proficiency with network testing equipment and validation procedures. Maintain professional communication standards with all stakeholders during normal operations and emergency response situations.REQUIREMENTS • ITE or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Networking, or related field.• 1-2 years of relevant experience in network operations, structured cabling, or related field preferred; fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and internship experience are welcome to apply.• Cisco CCNA (or equivalent networking certification) required • Basic knowledge of IPv4 addressing, VLANs, and switching concepts.• Familiarity with Wi-Fi troubleshooting and access point deployments.• Good understanding of structured cabling standards (Cat6/Cat6A, patch panels, fiber termination).• Able to use common network testers (e.g., OTDR, power meter, light source, cable certifiers) to validate copper and fiber link performance.• Exposure to Cisco or equivalent switches and wireless equipment preferred.• To perform on-call standby and duty roster.• Class 3 Driving License preferred for site mobility. • Good written and verbal communication skills; able to work professionally with internal teams and vendors.• Adaptable and reliable in a dynamic environment.• Team player with eagerness to learn.• Responsible, dependable, and able to commit to standby duties.• Display calmness under pressure, with good problem-solving and escalation judgment.• Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline.• Team player with eagerness to learn.
