Overview
Risk & Compliance Manager, Mandai Nature. Mandai Nature is a Singapore-based non-profit conservation organisation jointly set up by Temasek and Mandai Wildlife Group. The Risk & Compliance Manager will actively drive the implementation of the company's Risk Management Framework to support business and strategic goals, including adherence to essential legislative and regulatory standards. The role requires an experienced risk and compliance professional who can balance ensuring risks are duly managed with practical considerations in the regions where Mandai Nature operates. The successful candidate will work in a small, dynamic team and have strong stakeholder management skills to safeguard compliance while maintaining good working relationships.
Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
Risk Identification, Assessment and Management: Support the Deputy Vice President, Finance & Governance to continuously develop, improve and maintain a robust risk management framework with focus on Enterprise Risk Management, Grant Risk Management, Donor Risk Management and Health & Safety risk management for programme teams.
Familiarise with key business processes and track identified risks and issues related to these processes.
Work with team members to devise risk mitigation measures for identified risks.
Ensure accurate monitoring and reporting of identified risks and relevant mitigation measures.
Perform grant and donor due diligence assessments and assist in second line control activities such as risk reviews on assessments performed by others.
Provide input and guidance to internal stakeholders to manage the organisation's risk exposure in day-to-day operations.
Document key risk policies and processes.
Support planning and execution of risk management training and workshops.
Liaise with internal auditors.
Compliance and Governance
Support the Deputy Vice President, Finance & Governance to ensure robust policies and processes to fulfil compliance requirements.
Perform compliance obligations mapping, including legal, charity, Anti-Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing regulations, and contractual obligations.
Highlight deficiencies in compliance processes and provide recommendations to close gaps.
Document key compliance policies and processes.
Maintain the master contract list and ensure legal contracts are organized centrally with key obligations identified and tracked.
Other ad hoc tasks
Lead or support business process and system improvements as needed.
Undertake other special projects or ad hoc tasks as they arise.
Job Requirements
Degree in Business, Finance, Law, Risk Management, or related field from a recognised university.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in risk management and compliance.
Proven track record of formulating and implementing risk and compliance management and operating practices.
Proficient in risk management and regulatory requirements; ideally with knowledge of compliance frameworks and third-party risk management. Knowledge of charity regulations is a plus but not mandatory.
Excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills.
Experience in internal audit is preferred.
Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
Experience with non-profit organisations is an advantage but not mandatory.
Attention to detail and strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities; analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams; high integrity and accountability.
