Role Overview
An Assistant Manager (Mechanical) supports the Mechanical/Engineering Manager in overseeing the design, operation, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical systems, machinery, or facilities. The role bridges hands-on technical work and managerial responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations while guiding a team.
Key Responsibilities
\t1.\tOperations & Maintenance
\t• \tSupervise day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment (e.g., HVAC, pumps, boilers, production machinery).
\t• \tEnsure minimal downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance.
\t2.\tProject Management
\t• \tAssist in planning, scheduling, and executing mechanical projects or upgrades.
\t• \tCoordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
\t• \tMonitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
\t3.\tTeam Supervision
\t• \tLead and guide a team of technicians/engineers.
\t• \tAssign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training where needed.
\t• \tSupport manpower planning and shift scheduling.
\t4.\tCompliance & Safety
\t• \tEnsure all mechanical systems comply with statutory regulations, codes, and workplace safety standards.
\t• \tConduct regular safety inspections and audits.
\t5.\tBudget & Cost Control
\t• \tAssist in preparing budgets for maintenance, spare parts, and projects.
\t• \tMonitor expenses and suggest cost-saving measures.
\t6.\tReporting & Documentation
\t• \tPrepare maintenance schedules, work reports, and incident logs.
\t• \tKeep updated records of equipment history and compliance documents.
Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 6 years of progressive leadership experience related industries.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting.
- Good communication skills (to liaise between technical staff and management).
- Familiarity with safety regulations and risk management.
