Senior Electrical Design Lead

The role of a Senior Electrical Design Lead involves overseeing and reviewing electrical team members' design work to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are met.

  • Design Review: The successful candidate will supervise and review the electrical team's design specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to guarantee adherence to quality, safety, and technical standards.
  • Client Liaison: The candidate will evaluate clients' requirements, design engineers' inputs, and third-party designs to determine suitability and liaise with concerned parties to obtain further information if necessary.
  • Project Delivery: The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering projects across the complete project lifecycle from front-end engineering design (FEED) through to detailed design, technical assurance, testing & commissioning, and final handover.
  • Design Layouts: The candidate will produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specification requirements and can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
  • Team Integration: The candidate will collaborate with other disciplines within the organisation or project team to fully integrate all design elements.
  • Reporting: The candidate will provide written reports on system options.
  • Specifications: The candidate will write specifications for electrical systems.
  • Calculations: The candidate will prepare calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation.
  • Installation Monitoring: The candidate will monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
  • Leadership: The candidate will have experience in leading design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
  • Electrical Design Knowledge: The candidate will have excellent knowledge of electrical design (LV and HV systems), motor control centres/switchgear, electrical installations, and systems within industrial/process environments, HAZOP assessments, DSEAR/ATEX installation practice, production of SLD/BCD's, earthing and bonding, and familiarity with current UK design standards, including industry-specific standards and working practices.
  • Digital Analysis Packages: The candidate will have proficiency in designing appropriate digital analysis packages and electrical design software such as Trimble/Amtech.
  • Standard Practices: The candidate will ensure that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
  • Estimates and Feedback: The candidate will provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department as required.
  • Development and Maintenance: The candidate will work through procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department and maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
  • Staff Supervision: The candidate will assist in supervising and developing staff.
  • Safety Environment: The candidate will assist in ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
