Role Overview:
The Butler/House Manager is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of a private household, delivering the highest standards of service, managing household staff, and ensuring all aspects of the residence function seamlessly. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, highly organized, and service-oriented with a strong background in hospitality or private household management.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Oversee daily household activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Manage schedules, routines, and standard procedures for household staff and tasks.
Supervise chefs, cleaners, drivers, gardeners, and part-time contractors.
Handle budgeting, expense tracking, bill payments, and household purchases.
Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
Ensure privacy, discretion, and household confidentiality at all times.
Staff Supervision
Recruit, train, and oversee domestic staff performance and scheduling.
Monitor attendance, manage rosters, and ensure compliance with employment policies.
Guide service standards and foster a high-performance team culture.
Event & Guest Management
Plan and manage family events, private functions, and guest visits.
Coordinate logistics, staffing, menu planning, and décor.
Ensure guests receive warm, attentive, and professional service.
Butler & Lifestyle Support
Provide formal table service, manage wine cellar, and wardrobe organization.
Oversee packing/unpacking for travel and special requests.
Ensure timely responses to communications and maintain service excellence.
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience as a House Manager or similar role in private high-net-worth residences.
Background in luxury hospitality, cabin crew (with supervisory duties), or hotel butler service preferred.
Familiarity with VIP household protocols, etiquette, and high-touch service standards.
Discreet, professional, trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential matters.
Hands-on, proactive, and able to work independently with strong initiative.
Organized, detail-oriented, and service-minded with excellent leadership and time management skills.
Calm under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Flexible with working hours, including weekends.
Possesses a valid driver's license and passport, open to occasional travel.
