Software Engineer (Security and Detection) - Global Security Organisation
Overview
TikTok's Global Security Organization (GSO) aims to build and earn trust by reducing risk and securing our businesses and products. The Insider Trust team focuses on detection, investigation, and response workflows. This role leads the detection engineering strategy to support discovery, detection, investigation, and response for insider risk across the organization.
Responsibilities
Lead the strategic vision for Insider Trust engineers and analysts (Junior to Senior) to build detections, tools, and logging infrastructure using Python, SQL, Go, Terraform, etc. Create detections to identify insider threats.
Act as a force multiplier by optimizing processes and aligning stakeholders. A Sr. Detection Engineer raises productivity and efficiency of analysts during investigations and remediations.
Ideate, drive, and deliver a technical roadmap to build compliance, detection, and engineering solutions for Insider Trust.
Help stakeholders identify relevant insider risk use-cases while mitigating risk for users and the business.
Maintain and support compliant data flows and automation access for interoperability across regions.
Be the go-to technical subject matter expert on security, compliance, and assurance topics touching insider risk teams.
Contribute to technical projects through root cause analyses, code reviews, architecture design, and hands-on coding.
Grow and foster a high-performing team of engineers and analysts; recruit and hire top technical talent with a diverse candidate pool.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure alignment, collect feedback on automations, and deploy solutions for cross-functional adoption.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
5+ years of industry experience as an engineer
Proficiency in Python
Understanding of current industry data analytical capabilities and shortcomings
Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a Security Team
SQL proficiency
Working knowledge of cloud platforms (OCI, GCP, AWS, etc)
Knowledge of social media processes and products and gaps that can be exploited by threat actors
Understanding of online deceptive and manipulative behavior; knowledge of threat actors and cross-platform tactics
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing team with a strong drive to learn
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff
