Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments (2012–2022).
Plan and execute SQL Server upgrade and migration projects with minimal downtime.
Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive backup strategy for critical systems and databases.
Manage and operate Veeam Backup & Replication for both physical and virtual environments.
Handle Dell EMC Isilon NAS storage configuration, quotas, replication, and snapshots.
Oversee backup tape rotation, inventory tracking, offsite movement, and audit compliance.
Maintain detailed documentation of backup procedures, schedules, and tape logs.
Create and maintain batch jobs and scripts (e.g., PowerShell, T-SQL, or CMD) to automate database and backup tasks.
Perform routine backup validation and test recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
Coordinate with application, storage, and infrastructure teams to align backup and recovery requirements.
Generate monthly database utilization reports for application teams with recommended actions.
Manage incidents/requests relating to SQL and Backup (as per ITIL)
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012–2022), including upgrades and migrations.
Proficient in configuring and managing Veeam Backup & Replication (v10 and above).
In-depth knowledge of Dell EMC Isilon storage systems and administration.
Experience designing and implementing enterprise-level backup strategies.
Hands-on experience managing backup tape inventory, movement logs, and offsite rotation.
Proficient in creating and maintaining automation scripts and batch jobs for operational tasks.
Familiar with disaster recovery planning and RPO/RTO alignment.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in Microsoft SQL Server (MCSA/MCSE), Veeam VMCE, or Dell EMC Isilon.
Experience with backup and storage compliance audits.
Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Zabbix, SolarWinds, or similar.
Salary:
$7,000/month
