Responsibilities:
We are seeking a candidate with strong technical background in Operational Technology (OT), and system networking of microgrid and renewable energy power plants (such as Solar, Wind and Battery Energy Storage) to join the team in the digitalization of microgrids and smart renewables and energy IoT technologies at Envision Digital Singapore HQ office.
You will work closely with a global team of talented microgrid / renewable energy experts, and be responsible for key customer engagements and project solutioning by helping to design, connect and implement microgrid with Univers’ AIoT and microgrid controller products.
You will work as a subject matter expert for stakeholders on the design and development of OT solutions for microgrid projects.
Interact with both internal and external stakeholders (such as asset owners, developers, EPC and O&M), to design suitable solution architectures for a client-compliant Microgrid controller system; Interface with plant controller manufacturers, transmission and system operators, asset owners, and operations and maintenance personnel to ensure Microgrid controller systems are designed and implemented in accordance with contractual requirements and best practices;
Specify, review designs and configure Microgrid Controllers for microgrid related projects (e.g. energy storage+ industrial parks, on / off grid);
Develop conceptual designs and implement controller algorithms for control equipment that comply with contract and interconnection requirements;
Configure edge devices and gateways for utility-scale and C&I microgrid projects, to enable cloud based real-time monitoring and advanced optimization;
Work with Edge and Microgrid controller Product Managers to aggregate client requirements, and identify product feature requests and pain points for continuous product enhancement and refinement;
Knowledge and capability of basic finance concepts and able to calculate the key financial parameters such as Return on Investment (ROI) for microgrid projects.
Occasional travel is required, based on business requirements.
Experience:
Advanced knowledge of IoT, Edge and microgrid control principles/practices required;
Strong knowledge of OT networking environment, network architecture, network infrastructure components, industrial communication systems and protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, DNP, IEC104 and Modern IoT protocols such as MQTT, CoAP and Restful APIs;
Knowledge of power and control system with programming dynamic close loop controls for Voltage regulation, Active/Reactive Power Curtailment with microgrid controller, PLC/RTU;
Knowledge and experience in microgrid energy technologies (Solar, Wind, Energy Storage, Gas Turbines, EV charger, heat pump), preliminary design, monitoring and control, operation and maintenance is a plus;
Knowledge of Cybersecurity and the Purdue Model security model required. In particular, the DMZ to Industrial Security Zones 2/3 for Local Area Networks including Servers, Networking Equipment and associated Technologies is a plus;
Experience with complete microgrid project management is a plus;
Qualifications:
Master’s degree and above in Electrical, Computer Science Engineering or other relevant degrees;
Minimum 3-5 years of utility and/or industry EMS, control system and microgrid controllers experience, including a track record of hands-on experience in microgrid projects, including the implementation of SCADA and Edge gateway (Battery Storage project experience is a plus)
