Role Overview: Our APAC Legal team is seeking an experienced Employment Legal Counsel to provide strategic advice on APAC-wide employment law matters. You will partner with HR, business leaders, Risk and Compliance teams to mitigate risk, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and support employee relations across the APAC jurisdictions, procuring and managing external counsel where appropriate. This role demands a pragmatic advisor capable of balancing legal rigor with commercial objectives.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Employment Law Advisory: Support the HR team and other internal stakeholders on employment law matters, including employment contracts, workplace policies, restructures, terminations, and labour law compliance. Draft and review employment agreements, non-compete clauses, and confidentiality agreements. Input into employment aspects of supply and outsourcing arrangements. Advise on strategic matters, including employee relations. Draft and implement employment-related documentation. Regularly review policies and procedures. Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the business. Procure and manage external legal advice. Stay updated on employment law trends and regulatory changes.
  2. Dispute Resolution: Oversee employment-related litigation, mediation, and settlement negotiations. Liaise with external counsel to minimize risks.
  3. Stakeholder Partnership: Advise HR on employee relations strategy, DEI initiatives, and workforce planning. Provide training on employment law. Collaborate with Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams. Work with procurement on tenders and RFP responses. Assist other legal team members on employment aspects of commercial contracts.
Role Competencies | Experience & Skills
  • Solicitor or barrister with 6-10 years PQE, qualified in Malaysia, Singapore, or Hong Kong.
  • Experience working across multiple APAC jurisdictions is desirable.
  • Broad experience in employment law issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex issues clearly.
  • Trust-building and networking skills.
  • Professional, approachable, with a positive attitude.
