We are seeking a talented and experienced UI/UX Consultant to join our team and work on impactful digital solutions for government agencies, local authorities, and technology-driven projects. This position requires a professional with a strong background in both the public sector and the tech industry, bridging user-centric design with the specific needs of governmental processes and digital innovation.
As a UI/UX Consultant, you will design intuitive, innovative, and accessible digital interfaces that enhance the user experience for citizens and government employees, while applying best practices from the tech industry.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive user research (surveys, interviews, focus groups, user testing) to understand citizens\' needs in the public sector and the tech industry; analyse and synthesise data into actionable insights.
Design user-friendly, responsive, and aesthetically engaging interfaces for web and mobile across public sector and tech projects; create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity design mockups.
Collaborate with government officials, tech developers, content strategists, and project managers; translate business and user requirements into innovative design solutions.
Lead UX strategies for digital transformation projects in government and tech to optimise service delivery, user satisfaction, and digital accessibility.
Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback and performance data.
Develop and maintain design systems for government technology projects to ensure consistency and scalability.
Document design workflows, personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes; provide regular progress reports to stakeholders.
Ensure designs comply with relevant government regulations, accessibility standards (WCAG), and privacy requirements; apply best practices from the tech industry for inclusive and secure experiences.
Nice To Have
Familiarity with government digital transformation initiatives or experience in designing for e-Government projects, citizen engagement platforms, or public service delivery systems.
Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments with multidisciplinary teams.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer or Consultant, with hands-on experience servicing the public sector (government or local authorities/agencies).
Experience on projects within government or local authority agencies, understanding public sector goals and service delivery processes.
Proven experience designing user interfaces and working with modern web and mobile technologies.
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch; experience with Adobe XD, InVision, Axure, etc. is a plus).
Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, including user research, personas, user flows, wireframes, prototyping, and usability testing.
Understanding of WCAG and government standards for digital accessibility; knowledge of data privacy and security regulations in the public sector is a plus.
Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication skills to convey design concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
