Team Leader, Global Crude Trading

About the role The Team Leader will be leading a team of traders, operators and analysts in the Crude Oil Trading Book, one of the trading books in Singapore, reporting to the VP and supporting SK’s commodities trading business. Responsibilities include: Responsibilities include: Manage Crude Oil Trading and Trading Position: lead the team in the trading of Crude Oil (including Condensate), Physical, and Derivatives, including identifying and developing new opportunities to ensure optimal outcomes Coordinate with the freight team within the Crude Oil Biz to charter all products, crude and feedstock import, export, backhaul and trading shipments (spot and time charters) to maximize profits while ensuring safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective delivery Maximize trading profit and achieve targeted team goals through: strategizing sustainable business flows and profit models, conducting necessary marketing activities (including overseas business trips), adequate risk management (hedging and forecasting)Manage items that cannot be traded, such as Dubai bidding via Platts Window Refineries Procurement Work closely with HQ to optimize the Crude Oil value chain; in charge of crude procurement for SK refineries (e.g., Incheon & Ulsan complexes) and activities to maximize margins Business Support Provide other traders with technical and fundamental market information and recommend hedging methods to leverage positions Provide market analysis and reporting as required Compliance Adherence to all internal and external regulatory requirements and limits Management Reporting Be ready for 24/7 reporting on anything related to crude market and book to Management Perform research and regularly report on market analysis, trading position and strategy to Management (bi-weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Yearly)Prepare strategic management reports and work closely with Seoul HQ on trading activities Responsible for goal setting and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for members and assigned trading coverage Strategy Planning and Stakeholder Management Cultivate relationships that create trust and long-term partnerships with stakeholders Devise multiple strategies of conflict management Coordinate all parties to resolve conflicts and arrive at compromises Build long-term customer relationships and propose solutions that anticipate customers’ needs Manage and drive Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategies to improve business relationships Candidate Profile A self-motivated individual who values integrity, is willing to go the extra mile to provide value to stakeholders. A strong candidate should possess the following: Degree in International Trade, Business, Economics or other relevant qualifications with strong mathematical inclination At least 10 years of experience in crude oil and oil refining (e.g., refinery crude procurement, physical trading, derivative trading, crude marketing and refinery hedging) in Southeast & Far East Asia and/or US/EU At least 10 years of international trading experience At least 5 years in a leadership role Deep understanding of the refinery crude oil purchasing process and ability to communicate with refinery purchasing teams Strong knowledge of the global crude oil market with established relationships in Southeast & Far East Asia Experience in developing trade strategies such as spreads and arbitrage Strong analytical and financial modelling skills to interpret complex data and aid decision making Highly motivated, organized, with integrity and ability to perform under pressure Effective team player with strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills Shortlisted applicants will typically be notified within 2 weeks from the closing date of the job posting.
