Overview

Cana Consulting is partnering with a distinct player in the petrochemical industry in recruiting for a Legal Counsel . The candidate will be part of a lean team, reporting to a regional senior counsel. This position will provide broad-based legal support across the Asia-Pacific region. This is an excellent opportunity for corporate legal candidates looking to transit in-house, looking for a stable career .

Role
  • Advise business stakeholders on a wide spectrum of legal matters, including commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and employment matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements (e.g., sales, distribution, procurement, joint ventures, and supply chain contracts).
  • Provide legal support for cross-border transactions, strategic projects, and corporate initiatives.
  • Monitor and advise on regulatory and legislative developments in Asia, particularly in China, and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Partner with compliance teams on anti-bribery, competition, sanctions, and data protection issues.
  • Manage disputes and litigation, working closely with external counsel where required.
  • Deliver legal training to internal stakeholders to raise awareness of compliance and risk issues.
  • Support the General Counsel and wider legal team on global or regional projects.
Requirements
  • Called to Bar, 3-5PQE
  • Primarily non-contentious, corporate law background (General Corporate, Corporate Governance, M&A)
  • Due to nature of regional coverage and stakeholders that the candidate will have to manage, experiences in the China market would be an advantage
  • Attitude to learn and to collaborate in a small team
  • Aptitude to pick up things fast and learn on the job
Additional Notes
  • This role offers a stable career but the structure is pretty flat. Hence, progression comes in the form of job exposure and broad scope coverage.
  • The position is located at the Southern part of Singapore
