About Our Client
Our client is a multinational group that innovates high-performance lighting solutions for automotive, mobile, and IoT applications. They combine advanced optics and materials science to deliver energy-efficient illumination. Currently looking for an Intellectual Property Counsel.
Job Description
This role reports to the Chief Intellectual Property Officer, based in Europe.
Responsibilities
  • Innovation Safeguarding & Portfolio Oversight - Discover and secure new technical developments while managing existing IP holdings.
  • Patent Development & Prosecution - Partner with external experts to prepare and advance patent applications through to approval.
  • Legal Insight & Strategic Planning - Deliver assessments on third-party claims, conduct freedom-to-operate reviews, and shape IP direction.
  • IP Commercialization- Explore opportunities to generate value from existing IP assets.
  • Contractual Support - Draft and evaluate agreements related to technology collaborations and licensing.
  • Team Leadership Potential - Opportunity to grow into a leadership role within the IP function over time.
The Successful Applicant
  • Qualified Commonwealth Law Patent Attorney with a postgraduate degree in engineering or science.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as LED systems, semiconductor processes, optics, electronics, and thermal management is advantageous.
  • Business-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for cross-functional and external engagement.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, strategic environment.
