As an Engineering Director at Pay Pal, you will be responsible for overseeing the software development process and driving technical excellence within the organization to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software products. You will lead a large globally distributed team to manage the financial infrastructure that supports all verticals within Pay Pal and enables those verticals to generate revenue. Provide technical leadership across a complex business area that supports multiple verticals within Pay Pal. Your day to day: Build and develop talented and high-functioning teams, lead them through ambiguity, and determine a long-term growth strategy along with the organization’s engineering roadmap. Establish clear goals, objectives, and performance expectations for the team members. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for team members' growth. Oversee the planning and execution of software development projects, ensuring they are completed on-time, on-quality, and within budget. Collaborate with product management, Design, QA, and other stakeholders to define project scope and requirements and ensure seamless integration and roll-out of deliverables. Work across organizations and with other platform leaders to establish technical guidelines, standards, and technologies in the Pricing domain that lend themselves to effective architecture/design decisions. Work with senior management to define and manage the software engineering budget. Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and priorities. What you need to bring: You’re a people person. You connect well with technically savvy engineers and other stakeholders across the organization. You demonstrate a high emotional quotient and empathy, with the ability to build trust and create psychological safety while tackling tough problems and navigating conflicts. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 15-20 years leading and managing software engineering teams for complex distributed systems, preferably in a leadership role such as a senior manager or director of engineering. Strong technical background and expertise in software development methodologies, technologies, and tools with proven experience in successfully delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
