Senior Unix/Linux System Administrator

We're seeking a highly experienced
Senior Unix/Linux System Administrator
to join our client's core infrastructure team. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our mission-critical systems in a high-availability, enterprise environment. You will play a key role in systems administration, upgrades, automation, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning — all while ensuring operational excellence across production, DR, and UAT environments.

Key Responsibilities
System Administration & Operations
Manage and administer a mixed environment of
Sun Solaris
and
Linux-based
systems across production, DR, and test landscapes.
Perform upgrades, enhancements, and security hardening of operating systems and middleware components.
Ensure compliance with IT security standards by applying relevant patches and maintaining access credentials and certificates.
Develop and implement system backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and ensure data integrity through regular testing.
Support UAT environments, middleware platforms, and maintain related infrastructure documentation.
Provide advanced (L3) technical support and guidance to internal teams and end-users.
Incident & Problem Management
Resolve system-related incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement long-term preventive measures.
Change & Release Management
Plan and execute system changes and deployments in accordance with ITIL-aligned change management processes.
Create and manage deployment packages for applications using standardized deployment tools.
Configuration & Performance Management
Maintain a comprehensive inventory of system hardware/software configurations.
Monitor system performance and perform capacity planning to ensure optimal utilization and scalability.
Conduct performance tuning to meet availability and throughput requirements.
Process & Project Support
Contribute to the development and implementation of IT service management processes aligned with corporate policies.
Provide infrastructure support for ongoing and new projects, ensuring timely delivery aligned to project goals.
Prepare and update technical documentation, SOPs, and infrastructure diagrams.
What We're Looking For
Degree
in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
8+ years
of experience in Unix/Linux system administration within an enterprise environment.
Strong experience in:
Middleware administration
SAN storage integration on Unix/Linux platforms
OS hardening and patch management
Scripting and task automation (Bash, Python, etc.)
Backup, recovery, and system monitoring tools
Exposure to
data center operations
and basic database administration is a plus.
Willingness to support 24/7 operations on a rotational basis, including after-hours and weekend change windows.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills — comfortable working across all organizational levels.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving mindset.
Self-motivated, customer-focused, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)
Public cloud certifications (e.g.,
AWS ,
Azure ,
Google Cloud Platform )
