Position Overview:
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall smooth running of a team of operations professionals overseeing a busy aircraft management, charter, medical evacuation flight department.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Strategic Management of Trip Support Functions
Oversee the planning and coordination of flight operations, including route planning, overflight permits, ground handling, and fuelling.
Ensure seamless execution of client trips by maintaining close communication with internal teams and external service providers.
Monitor regulatory updates in international aviation to ensure compliance.
2.
Management of Aircraft Owner Accounts
Serve as the primary point of contact for aircraft owners, ensuring client satisfaction and operational transparency.
Manage aircraft scheduling, utilisation, and financial performance of owned aircraft.
3. Crew Logistics
Ensure efficient crew rostering and duty time management in compliance with regulatory standards.
Liaison with Customer Service and Logistics director to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of crew logistics.
4. Executive Coordination and Vendor Management
Lead the selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with key suppliers and vendors, including handling, catering, fuel, and other critical operational services.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure service continuity and cost-effectiveness.
Oversee the procurement process and ensure it aligns with company standards and budget constraints.
5. Compliance
Ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with relevant AOC regulations.
Maintain strong working relationships with aviation regulatory bodies and ensure that safety audits and compliance checks are conducted regularly.
Be a key part of the safety management system (SMS) across all operations.
6. Budget and Cost Control
Develop and oversee the operations budget, ensuring that all functions operate within budgetary constraints.
Conduct regular financial reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality or safety.
Monitor expenditure on vendors and service providers, ensuring that financial objectives are met.
7. Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational excellence.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying areas for process optimization and innovation.
Facilitate training and professional development opportunities for team members.
8. Crisis Management and Problem Resolution
Act as the point of escalation for operational challenges, resolving issues related to trip disruptions, client concerns, or vendor service failures.
Oversee the development and execution of contingency plans to manage disruptions, ensuring minimal impact on clients and operations.
Lead emergency response coordination in the event of operational crises.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Extensive experience in aviation operations, flight permits, FBO liaison, preferably within the private jet or corporate aviation sector.
Strong understanding of international aviation regulations including CAAS, CASA, FAA and EASA.
Proven experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and strategic supplier relationships.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and cost control.
Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
