To Assist the Consultant Pathologists, when necessary, in their routine work. To participate in trimming and grossing of specimens in laboratory. To assist at frozen section, in preparation of the specimens and initial screening. To assist in preliminary screening of cytology and histopathology cases. To assist Consultant Pathologist in preparation for seminars and case conference presentation. The Pathology Assistant shall duly discharge the following duties and responsibilities as generally described, but not limited to: Ensures the accuracy of examinations and analyses performed to assist Consultant Pathologists in the making of correct diagnoses in specimens sent to laboratory. Consults with Consultant Pathologists on all aspects of medical laboratory testing. The Pathology Assistant shall assist the Consultant Pathologist in the following activities: Helping ensure optimal operation of the Laboratory at all times. Helping ensure that the Histopathology and Cytology sections of PLS provide appropriate, timely and cost-effective testing to their customers. Helping oversee the care of Laboratory instruments and promote judicious use of materials. Help in the maintenance of records and the organisation of work schedules of the Department. Such other reasonable responsibilities as defined from time to time by the Consultant Pathologists. The Pathology Assistant shall also assist the Consultant Pathologists in the following activities: Provide working knowledge of all phases of Laboratory work (technical, theoretical, practical) done in AP Department. Help establish, keep and review records as needed within the Department. To be knowledgeable and actively involved in safety requirements of the laboratory, audit, accreditation and QC surveys undertaken by the Laboratory. Be instrumental in setting up new routines and methods within the Department. Help in liaison to appropriate Medical Staff Committees relevant to PLS. Any other duties as assigned from time to time by Consultant Pathologist/management
