Overview
Assistant Director, Technology Innovation and Strategic Operations at National University Health System (NUHS). The incumbent will support the Tengah General and Community Hospital’s Operations Lead in executing the strategic vision of healthcare technology and innovation, coordinating cutting-edge technology initiatives across operations, clinical, and building systems to enhance patient care, optimise operational efficiency, and foster sustainable manpower strategies.
Responsibilities
Execute comprehensive technology and innovation strategy as directed by the Operations Lead, focusing on digital transformation and intelligent hospital of the future initiatives.
Assist in overseeing technology domains (operational systems, clinical technologies, smart building infrastructure) to support seamless, interconnected healthcare environments.
Support evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies including telehealth, AI/analytics, robotics, automation, wearables, digital twin platforms, and autonomous mobile systems as directed by the Operations Lead.
Facilitate continuous improvement culture and digital transformation through cross-functional collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
Conduct horizon scanning to monitor industry trends, healthcare policies, emerging technologies, and advancements to support strategic decision-making.
Establish networks with technology vendors, research institutions, healthcare innovation hubs, and industry experts to maintain awareness of emerging solutions.
Evaluate potential impact and applicability of emerging technologies to the organisation's operational, clinical, and building system requirements.
Coordinate implementation of technology initiatives across operational systems, clinical technologies, and building systems as directed by the Operations Lead.
Develop business cases, coordinate procurement, and manage operational integration of systems to create a unified intelligent hospital platform.
Implement technology governance frameworks ensuring alignment between operational requirements, clinical workflows, and building management needs.
Execute enterprise strategy frameworks supporting the intelligent hospital vision while ensuring business continuity, compliance, and operational excellence.
Coordinate implementation of a comprehensive digital platform covering hospital facilities, equipment, patient flows, operational processes, and building systems as directed by the Operations Lead.
Support business integration of IoT sensors, real-time data analytics, and predictive modelling across operational domains.
Work with clinical, operational, and facilities teams to implement business KPIs and operational metrics for digital twin monitoring and optimisation.
Support strategic scenario planning, capacity management, predictive maintenance, and evidence-based operational decision making through digital twin platforms.
Coordinate implementation of intelligent building systems addressing patient needs, staff workflows, and operational requirements.
Execute business strategy and operational plans for autonomous robotic systems (AMR/AGV) supporting logistics, medication delivery, waste management, and patient transport.
Coordinate operational integration planning for AMR/AGV systems with hospital workflows and facility operations.
Support fleet management strategies to ensure optimal operational efficiency, resource allocation, and service delivery.
Identify operational automation opportunities to enhance patient safety, reduce manual workload, and improve service delivery.
Ensure compliance with healthcare safety standards and regulatory requirements for autonomous systems.
Coordinate collaboration with stakeholders across clinical, operations, facilities management, and executive teams to support strategic initiatives.
Support relationships with external partners, vendors, technology integrators, and regulatory bodies ensuring successful operational implementation.
Assist in providing strategic updates to executive leadership on projects, milestones, and insights.
Facilitate operational change management with clinical, facilities, and service delivery teams to ensure seamless technology adoption.
Support identification of digital transformation opportunities through needs assessments, impact analyses, and business case development.
Coordinate strategic technology roadmaps and implementation plans as directed by the Operations Lead.
Conduct evaluations and feasibility studies for digital twin platforms, AMR/AGV solutions, and integrated building systems.
Support end-to-end programme management including procurement coordination, vendor relationship support, testing, change management, and service rollout.
Implement governance and operational protocols for connected systems and integrated technology infrastructure.
Support secretariat duties for the innovation and technology workgroup, coordinating meetings and materials.
Assist in strategic planning and execution of innovation initiatives aligned with the intelligent hospital vision.
Implement governance frameworks for technology implementation ensuring alignment with clinical operations, facilities management, compliance, and regulatory standards.
Execute monitoring and evaluation protocols for integrated technology systems and business performance metrics.
Support management of programme scopes, timelines, budget tracking, risk management, and resource coordination for large-scale healthcare transformation projects.
Assist in vendor relationships across domains including contract support, coordination, and performance monitoring.
Implement quality management protocols ensuring projects meet clinical operations, facilities management, and regulatory standards while maintaining patient safety.
Support development and monitoring of KPIs measuring intelligent hospital transformation success including efficiency and service delivery metrics.
Support innovation-driven culture through team coordination and development of high-performing operational teams across technology domains.
Facilitate professional development promoting understanding of healthcare operations, service delivery optimisation, and transformation methodologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 7–10 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in healthcare.
Proven experience in healthcare operations, programme coordination, or strategic implementation with exposure to digital health technologies and understanding of healthcare operations.
Demonstrated experience in programme coordination, implementation support, and operational transformation involving technology integration.
Strong knowledge of hospital operations, patient safety, clinical workflows, and facilities management from an operational perspective.
Experience in horizon scanning, technology intelligence, market research, or strategic analysis in healthcare or technology sectors.
Strong coordination and implementation skills with experience in programme support, budgeting, vendor coordination, and performance monitoring.
Leadership capabilities for managing project teams and supporting complex transformation programs across multiple service domains.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to support executive presentations and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong analytical and implementation skills supporting business solutions through data analysis.
Demonstrated interest in healthcare transformation and understanding of operations, service delivery optimisation, and operational excellence methodologies.
Implementation-focused mindset to drive value, efficiency, and service quality while maintaining patient safety.
