The role of the Staff Nurse is a pivotal position in supporting the Dialysis Centre's holistic care delivery. As part of the management team, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the facility. This involves maintaining a safe environment that fosters optimal patient care.
Main Responsibilities:
- Administrative Duties
- Ensure accurate recording and updating of patients' medical history and related data, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and assist in stock inventory management.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
- Participate in quality improvement projects assigned by the Nurse Manager.
- Staff Related Responsibilities
- Evaluate and report available consumable stocks regularly.
- Promptly notify the Nurse Manager of any incidents or issues.
- Attend handover meetings between teams.
- Support assigned quality improvement projects.
- Assist in training staff members as required.
- Clinical Tasks
- Demonstrate competence in dialysis-related procedures, including cannulation of arterio-venous fistula (AVF) and arterio-venous graft (AVG), and preparation of central venous catheter (CVC).
- Prepare, initiate, and conclude dialysis treatments, manage complications, clear dialyzers and bloodlines after treatment, etc.
- Assess and document patients' parameters and psycho-physio-social needs before, during, and after treatment. Report abnormalities to the Senior Staff Nurse promptly.
- Collect patients' blood samples according to established protocols.
- Perform dialysis equipment maintenance tasks according to protocol, including troubleshooting, disinfection, care, and upkeep.
- Collaborate with the Senior Staff Nurse to develop primary nursing and treatment plans for assigned patients.
- Accompany the Senior Staff Nurse during consultations with doctors.
- Educate patients and families on renal dialysis care through regular communications.
- Document patients' clinical notes accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner.
- Provide updated blood test results to ensure precise and timely reporting of clinical outcomes and quality measures.
- Participate in quality improvement projects aimed at achieving quality outcomes for patients.
- Comply with proper aseptic techniques and infection prevention and control protocols.
- Coordinate continuous patient care with external service providers.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Nursing diploma.
- Valid registration with the Singapore Nursing Board.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in renal nursing.
- Valid certificate of Basic Care Life Support (BCLS).
- Teamwork-oriented personality.
