About the Job
The Cybersecurity Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the university's cybersecurity architecture. This role involves developing security strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and protecting the university's digital assets from cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
What You Will be Doing
Security Architecture Design
Develop and maintain the university's cybersecurity architecture roadmap in line with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO
Design secure network and system architectures to support high availability and scalability.
Risk Assessment and Management
Conduct regular security assessments and threat modeling to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure deployment of new applications, systems, and services.
Implementation and Integration
Lead the deployment of security solutions, including firewalls, SIEMs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection tools.
Oversee the integration of security measures into DevOps pipelines and cloud-based systems.
Compliance and Governance
Ensure cybersecurity architecture aligns with regulatory requirements (e.g., PDPA, MAS TRM) and SUSS's internal policies.
Develop security policies and standards for adoption across the organization.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 10 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity roles, with a minimum of 3 years in a cybersecurity architecture or similar leadership role.
Proven experience designing and implementing secure network and system architectures.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
Expertise in network security, cloud security (AWS/Azure), application security, and identity and access management (IAM).
Hands-on experience with security tools like firewalls, SIEMs, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management systems.
Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform).
Certifications:
Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF, or AWS Certified Security Specialist are highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Additional Requirements:
Understanding of the unique challenges of cybersecurity in an academic setting is an advantage.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Support the security operations team in investigating incidents and remediating threats.
Provide expert-level guidance during the design of incident response and disaster recovery plans.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Engage with academic and administrative units to understand security needs and provide tailored solutions.
Educate stakeholders on secure practices and the importance of cybersecurity.
Technology Research and Development
Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in cybersecurity to recommend innovative solutions.
Evaluate third-party tools and services to enhance SUSS's cybersecurity posture.
