Overview
The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX) is the first of its kind Science and Technology Agency that brings together science and engineering capabilities across the Home Team Departments to transform the homeland security landscape and keep Singapore safe. Within HTX, various Centres of Expertise drive specialised efforts; the HTX Forensics CoE advances forensics capabilities through research, development, and continuous innovation and provides scientific forensic analysis and intelligence gathering to the Home Team Departments. As a Senior Crime Scene Specialist, deployed to the Forensics Division (FD) of the Singapore Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department, you will be part of a team of specialists to conduct crime scene investigations to process and recover critical evidence related to criminal cases or traffic incidents.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough forensic processing and documentation of scenes of crime/traffic accidents, ensuring adherence to legal statutes and scientific protocols.
Conduct thorough examination and recovery of physical evidence at crime scenes, meticulously documenting field activities and maintaining a strict chain of custody for all investigative findings.
Document and preserve forensic evidence, ensuring its adequacy and integrity to support investigations and court proceedings.
Strictly adhere to established protocols, standards, and regulations governing forensics procedures, with comprehensive training provided.
Maintain readiness for shift duties and 24/7 stand-by availability, recognising the exigencies inherent in law enforcement work.
Provide crucial support to forensics operations and investigations, including attending court trials.
Take charge of planning and deployment of resources, and ensure that all actions taken by the team comply with proper procedures that fulfil both legal and scientific requirements.
Due to the nature of crime scene work, ability to handle unpleasant sights and smells to perform duties related to victim identification.
Undertake any additional administrative duties or development projects as assigned, and monitor emerging new technologies/equipment/procedures related to forensics to enhance the operational readiness of the Division.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Life Science, Chemistry, Biology or related disciplines.
Candidates with work experience in related fields (e.g., homeland security, law enforcement, and/or military) may be considered.
Experience in photography, videography, digital animation, and/or related multimedia fields is an advantage.
Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
Eagerness to learn and collaborate as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Willingness to work flexible shift hours in alignment with the demands of crime scenes work.
Ability to perform well under pressure and at irregular hours.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
A valid Class 3 driving licence will be an advantage.
Must be physically fit to handle demanding crime scene environments.

Employment Details
All new appointees will be provided with relevant training and appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
