Job Title: Assistant Stage Choreographer Reports To: Stage Choreographer Position Summary
The Assistant Choreographer operates at the intersection of commercial dance, nightlife entertainment, and interactive performance. This role assists the Lead Choreographer in drilling, refining, and maintaining high-impact dance sets, go-go lineups, and atmospheric movement. Because nightlife layouts present unique challenges,such as narrow bar tops, multi-level platforms, and moving through dense crowds the Assistant ensures that all routines are visually striking, highly adaptable, and executed with maximum physical safety under club lighting. Key Responsibilities
Commercial Instruction: Break down and drill high-energy commercial styles for main-stage dancers, hosts, and promotional teams. Spatial & Safety Adaptation: Tailor choreography to safely fit unconventional spaces, including elevated stages, bar counters, staircases, and VIP lounges. Nightlife Rehearsal Management: Lead warm-ups and drill sets during non-operational club hours (often late nights or afternoons) while tracking music mix adjustments. Atmospheric & Crowd Coaching: Guide performers on how to maintain high-energy personas, manage spatial freestyle, and interact safely with patrons while moving through the floor. Lineup & Swing Training: Quickly onboard rotating cast members, guest dancers, or substitute performers to ensure zero drop-off in show quality for weekend events. Required Qualifications
Commercial Dance Background: Proven technical training in commercial styles, with excellent physical stamina and the ability to dance confidently in stylized footwear. Nightlife or Live Event Experience: Prior experience performing or assisting in commercial dance reviews, music videos, high-end lounges, or experiential pop-ups. Clarity UnderClub Conditions: A sharp understanding of how strobe lighting, lasers, and moving crowds affect a performer's spatial awareness and safety. High-Energy Leadership: Exceptional communication skills to run fast-paced, loud, and dynamic rehearsalenvironmentefficiently.
