Junior Grower Job Description

Job Title: Junior Grower (CEA)

The Junior Grower will support the Master Grower in maintaining optimal growing conditions and plant health in the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) facility.

  • Transplanting seedlings from propagation area into growth systems
  • Seeding certain direct-sowed crops based on planting schedules
  • Monitoring plant growth and reporting any signs of pest, disease, nutrient deficiencies, etc. to the Master Grower
  • Helping prepare nutrient solutions and adjusting EC/pH levels as directed
  • Performing regular maintenance on hydroponic systems including checking pumps, lines, timers, etc.
  • Collecting plant measurement data including height, width, leaf health, etc. and inputting into tracking software
  • Assisting with harvest operations including cutting, trimming, weighing and packing produce
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the growing area
  • Following all safety protocols and procedures
  • Participating in on-the-job training to develop knowledge of horticultural principles, plant health, and CEA technologies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Master Grower in maintaining optimal growing conditions and plant health
  • Performing routine tasks such as transplanting, seeding, monitoring, and maintenance
  • Collecting and inputting plant measurement data
  • Assisting with harvest operations
  • Maintaining a clean and organized working environment

Requirements:

  • No prior experience required
  • Knowledge of basic plant biology and crop production
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills
  • Ability to work on one's feet for extended periods
  • Ability to use tablets, smartphones, and computers to input data
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
