Metal R&D/Application Engineer

Overview
Our client is looking for a Metal R&D/Application Engineer, where you\'ll spearhead cutting-edge R&D initiatives and pilot programs in metallurgy and industrial applications. In this dynamic role, you\'ll drive the development of breakthrough metal alloys, advanced additives and revolutionary processes while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards and industry regulations.
Project Leadership & Development
Engineer innovative technical solutions for assigned projects while optimizing budgets and maintaining exceptional quality standards
Orchestrate comprehensive project lifecycles from initial R&D through process engineering, production scale-up and regulatory approval
Create strategic test plans, oversee R&D schedules and ensure seamless alignment with organizational goals
Research & Laboratory Operations
Independently conceptualize, plan, and execute complex research initiatives
Design, conduct and monitor advanced experiments while maintaining optimal laboratory functionality
Coordinate comprehensive trials, perform sophisticated data analysis and maintain detailed documentation of all experimental procedures
Technical Communication & Collaboration
Produce high-caliber technical reports and documentation for diverse stakeholders including clients, subcontractors and investors
Partner strategically with external subcontractors and third-party service providers for specialized experimental activities
Build robust networks with metallurgical laboratories and subcontractors for comprehensive metal formulation testing
Specialized Metallurgical Operations
Oversee complete metal processing workflows including master alloy preparation, melting, casting, rolling, forming and coiling operations
Conduct thorough quality assessments across diverse metal families and applications
Develop and maintain an extensive repository of molecules and additives for ongoing research initiatives
Leadership & Management
Lead execution of proof-of-concept pilots and dynamic client demonstrations
Mentor and supervise assistant researchers, providing strategic guidance and resources for project excellence
Handle project administration including expense management, invoice processing, and comprehensive data tracking
Conduct field visits to ensure optimal research project progression
What They Are Looking For
Education & Experience
Master\'s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or closely related discipline
Minimum 7 years of progressive industrial R&D experience specializing in metal/alloy development, refining, melting, casting and associated processes
Technical Competencies
Exceptional technical writing abilities for developing protocols, comprehensive reports and professional correspondence
Advanced expertise in R&D methodologies, alloying techniques and industrial-scale research implementation
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with particular emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Professional Attributes
Highly organized and detail-focused with demonstrated ability to work autonomously
Strategic analytical thinker with proven innovative problem-solving capabilities
Exceptional project management skills with ability to successfully oversee multiple concurrent initiatives
