Safety Coordinator Job Description

As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, visitors, and contractors at the workplace. You will assist in developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and programs to create a safe working environment.

Your role will involve conducting regular safety inspections, providing safety training, investigating incidents, and promoting a safety culture within the organization.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to comply with local regulations and company standards
  • Conducting regular safety inspections to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Providing safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors on topics such as hazard identification, emergency procedures, and safe work practices
  • Investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence
  • Maintaining safety records, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety inspection findings
  • Collaborating with various department heads and supervisors to identify and address safety concerns in the workplace
  • Conducting safety audits to assess compliance with safety regulations and standards and make recommendations for improvement
  • Staying updated with new safety regulations, industry best practices, and emerging trends to ensure the organization's safety standards are up to date

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Completed the WSQ Advanced Certificate (Level B) in Workplace Safety & Health
  • BizSAFE Level 2 WSQ Develop a Risk Management Implementation Plan
  • Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience as a Safety Coordinator or a similar role, preferably in Singapore
  • Knowledge of local safety regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and control measures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver safety training and promote a safety-conscious culture
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage requests from clients and internal stakeholders
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
