Job Role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality occupational therapy services to residents. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating therapy programs to ensure optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess resident needs and develop individualized occupational therapy programs to improve functional abilities.
  • Document resident progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with company quality procedures.
  • Participate in orientation and training programs, supervise staff, and contribute to the smooth running of the department.

Clinical Accountabilities

  • Identify individual resident needs and formulate effective occupational therapy programs.
  • Evaluate and document resident progress, monitor training programs, and review their effectiveness.
  • Provide care-giver training on resident handling and home exercise programs.
  • Refer residents to specialists as necessary and prescribe rehabilitation aids.
  • Offer consultation and support to care-givers and allied health professionals on resident's functional status and occupational therapy matters.
  • Contribute to other rehabilitation teams by providing expertise on resident handling or musculoskeletal injury matters.

Administrative and Management Practice

  • Maintain efficient client records and documentation.
  • Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work and responsibility.
  • Manage therapy equipment through regular servicing and replacement as needed.
  • Keep inventory of all equipment and fixtures up-to-date.
  • Regularly update inventory of sales products.

Staff Development/Education

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in occupational therapy areas by reading journals and surfing websites.
  • Attend courses on occupational therapy-related topics.
  • Participate in research projects.
  • Conduct in-service sessions on occupational therapy topics for peers.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision to occupational therapy students and allied health trainees.

Occupational Health and Safety

  • Ensure safe working practices and a safe working environment that meets required standards.
  • Familiarize yourself with nursing home emergency and evacuation procedures and guidelines.

Quality Assurance

  • Participate in departmental quality procedures, policy reviews, and new idea implementations.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures, guidelines, and policies.
  • Monitor and report non-compliance and implement necessary changes from quality assurance findings.

Requirements

  • Highest Education Level: Diploma/Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
  • Years Working Experience: Minimum 4 yrs of local clinical experience in Singapore
  • Any Professional License Required: Full/Restricted Registration (AHPC - Singapore)
  • Any Other Knowledge Required: Soft skills (Ms Word/Excel basics Good communication skills)
