Job Purpose: The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. The institute is seeking to hire an Associate Director (Strategic Planning) who will provide leadership in the areas of long-term organisational planning and direction as IPS intensifies its applied public policy research activities. This individual will report to the Deputy Director, IPS and will work closely with the Senior Associate Director to establish and sustain the foundations of the institute's organisational and research programming structures. This is a new position in the admin department: to provide strategic planning for IPS, including forecasting, negotiating and overseeing IPS research programming together with internal and external stakeholders. Job Description: Conducting strategic planning for IPS, including forecasting of resourcing needs and investments in manpower and other critical service delivery processes. Building good working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and helping to establish operational data collection and analytical mechanisms for the institute to monitor, manage and articulate its contributions to the impact of its applied policy research work. Working closely with the administration teams to ensure comprehensive process documentation and review for presentation to internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications: Have at least a Master's degree preferably in a social science discipline with an emphasis on research, preferably in policy-relevant domains. At least five to eight years of working experience, preferably in the public service, Institutes of Higher Learning or consumer research firms. Have a strong command of both written and spoken English and excellent interpersonal skills. Possess leadership, analytical and management skills, sound judgement and the ability to work under pressure. Demonstrate a keen interest in and understanding of social and policy issues in Singapore. Preferably have an interest in the development of training programmes which relate to societal wellbeing and social outcomes.
