ELECTRONICS TEST TECHNICIAN

An Electronics Test Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring the proper functionality of electronic components, circuits, and systems. They perform diagnostic evaluations, verify product performance against specifications, and support engineers in product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance. The role often involves using electronic test equipment, documenting results, and identifying faulty components or processes to improve product reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
Perform functional, performance, and compliance tests on electronic devices, circuit boards, and systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults to the component level.
Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, datasheets, and technical documentation.
Record and analyze test data, preparing detailed reports for engineering or quality teams.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality engineers to resolve technical issues.
Ensure products meet industry standards, safety guidelines, and customer requirements.
Maintain calibration and proper functioning of test equipment.
Follow ESD (electrostatic discharge), safety, and cleanroom protocols where required.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
Associate’s degree, diploma, or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field (Bachelor’s degree is a plus).
Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, soldering, and testing (entry-level may require 0–2 years; mid-level 2–5 years; senior 5+ years).
Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, function generators, etc.).
Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics principles.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
Soldering and rework skills (through-hole and surface-mount technology).
Knowledge of microcontrollers, embedded systems, and RF testing is a plus.
Computer literacy with test software, data logging tools, and Microsoft Office.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Detail-oriented and precise in testing and documentation.
Effective communication skills for reporting results and collaborating with teams.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
