1. Position Overview The Lead Chinese Teacher is responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Chinese curriculum for assigned levels. The role ensures high-quality teaching and learning, promotes children's holistic development, and upholds the preschool's core values. The Lead Chinese Teacher also mentors co-teachers, supports centre initiatives, and builds positive partnerships with parents.2. Key Responsibilities A. Curriculum & Pedagogy Plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate Chinese lessons aligned with MOE/ECDA guidelines and centre curriculum frameworks. Create engaging, inquiry-based and culturally rich learning experiences for children. Design lesson plans, learning materials, and assessment tools for children's development. Monitor, document, and evaluate children's progress; provide timely feedback to parents. Ensure a balance of language, literacy, numeracy, motor skills, social-emotional development, and creative expression in lessons. Integrate bilingual teaching strategies where possible. B. Classroom Management Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning. Establish routines, rules, and expectations in alignment with centre guidelines. Manage children's behaviour positively and consistently using developmentally appropriate strategies. Ensure cleanliness, organisation, and safety of the classroom and learning resources. C. Leadership & Team Collaboration Mentor and guide assistant teachers or Chinese co-teachers on curriculum matters and classroom practice. Lead level/term planning meetings for Chinese curriculum. Provide coaching, modelling, and feedback to team members when needed. Collaborate closely with English teachers to ensure aligned and unified learning experiences. D. Parent Communication & Engagement Build and maintain positive relationships with parents. Communicate children's progress through daily updates, parent-teacher conferences, and term reports. Support centre events, celebrations, concerts, and parent engagement activities. Address parents' concerns professionally and promptly. E. Centre Operations & Compliance Uphold ECDA, SPARK, health, safety, and safeguarding standards at all times. Participate in centre meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions. Assist in new teacher onboarding related to Chinese curriculum or classroom routines. Support centre-wide initiatives, celebrations, and programmes 3. Requirements Qualifications Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education-Teaching (DECCE-T) or equivalent with Chinese Language specialisation. L2 certification by ECDA (Chinese). Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese; able to communicate basic English. Experience Minimum 3 years of experience teaching in a preschool environment. Experience leading curriculum planning or mentoring junior teachers is preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of Chinese language teaching strategies and early childhood pedagogy. Ability to design engaging teaching materials and learning experiences. Clear communication and interpersonal skills. Strong sense of professionalism, responsibility, and teamwork. Passion for children, creativity, patience, and a positive attitude.
