Legal Counsel (Commodity Trading / Trade Finance) Our client is a leading international commodity trading firm and is seeking a seasoned banking and finance lawyer to join its high-performing legal team. Based in Singapore, this is a global role with direct exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence complex, cross-border transactions. Responsibilities of this Legal Counsel (Commodity Trading / Trade Finance): Advise on structured finance and trade finance transactions, including prepayments, long-term offtakes, and royalty-based arrangements. Support treasury operations with legal input on internal funding, liquidity management, and capital structuring. Draft and negotiate financial instruments such as ISDAs, letters of credit, guarantees, and related security documentation. Ensure compliance with global regulatory frameworks including EMIR, MAS, and other trade reporting regimes. Collaborate with commercial, finance, and risk teams to support strategic initiatives and manage legal risk. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, delivering timely, commercially focused legal advice. Qualifications of this Legal Counsel (Commodity Trading / Trade Finance): 5–10+ years of post-qualification experience Common law qualified (e.g., UK, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong). Strong experience in structured finance and trade finance, ideally within commodities or capital-intensive industries. In-house experience preferred, with a proven ability to manage complex transactions and internal stakeholders. A highly independent and self-motivated professional, capable of working autonomously while collaborating effectively across teams. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
