Key Roles and Responsibilities

This automotive parts management position oversees inventory, procurement, and warehouse operations.

It ensures workshop efficiency by managing stock levels, sourcing quality parts, and optimizing inventory processes.

Core Responsibilities:

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels to maintain an optimal stock turnover rate.
  • Forecast demand to ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Review slow-moving inventory and suggest strategies to optimize stock turnover.

Procurement and Supplier Selection

  • Plan and oversee parts procurement from suppliers to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and lead times, following up to avoid delays in stock availability.
  • Source new suppliers offering competitive pricing and high-quality parts.
  • Conduct market research on parts pricing and supplier networks to ensure cost efficiency.

Workshop Operations and Logistics

  • Ensure accurate receipt, recording, and storage of incoming parts.
  • Oversee the issuance of parts to mechanics with minimal wait time.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and update the inventory management system in a timely manner.
  • Implement pre-picking strategies to prepare parts in advance and reduce waiting times.
  • Collaborate with the workshop team to ensure mechanics have the necessary parts for repairs and servicing.

Team Leadership and Process Improvement

  • Supervise and train warehouse personnel to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Evaluate existing workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Adhere to good housekeeping practices and safety regulations.

Financial and Administrative Tasks

  • Ensure accurate pricing and timely updates of cost and retail pricing in the system.
  • Regularly review and adjust profit margins based on market conditions.
  • Process supplier invoices promptly and submit them to Finance in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular stock audits to ensure inventory accuracy and prevent discrepancies.

Requirements:

  • Degree holder with at least 5 years of experience in automotive parts management.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle spare parts, inventory management systems, and pricing procedures.
  • Effective in sourcing light vehicle spare parts from local and overseas suppliers.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with experience managing a team.
  • Proficient in inventory software and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
