About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Research Associate in Maritime Studies to join our team at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension, subject to performance and availability of research funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Innovative Solutions: Utilize data analytics and operations research to improve port and shipping management efficiency.
  • Analyze and Model Complex Problems: Develop mathematical models to address practical issues in maritime studies.
  • Conduct Extensive Numerical Experiments: Validate the performance of proposed models through thorough experimentation.
  • Present Research Results: Publish findings as academic papers and reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Transport Engineering, Maritime Transport and Management, Computer Science, or related field from a reputable university.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages such as Python, C++, Java, Julia, or other competent programming languages.
  • Publication Record: Strong record of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals or conferences in maritime transport, logistics management, machine learning, deep learning, and optimization.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English skills for effective data analysis and communication.
  • Proposal Writing Experience: Prior experience in proposal writing and funding application is desirable.
