Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Carpentry Operations Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all activities in the carpentry production facility. This includes supervising teams, managing timelines and budgets, ensuring quality control, and optimizing workflow and productivity in accordance with project requirements and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operations Management

  • Oversee daily carpentry workshop and site operations.
  • Coordinate project schedules to ensure timely completion of production and installation.
  • Monitor and manage resources including materials, manpower, and machinery.
  • Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

2. Staff Supervision & Development

  • Lead and supervise carpenters, installers, and workshop staff.
  • Delegate tasks, conduct training, and evaluate performance.
  • Address manpower requirements and recommend hiring or training where necessary.

3. Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all carpentry works meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct inspections at various stages of production and installation.
  • Resolve technical issues and defects promptly.

4. Project Coordination

  • Liaise with designers, project managers, clients, and subcontractors to align production with expectations.
  • Attend site meetings and update stakeholders on progress.
  • Track and report on project milestones, delays, and adjustments.

5. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Manage material procurement and inventory.
  • Monitor production costs to minimize wastage and stay within budget.
  • Propose improvements to reduce cost and increase efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum diploma in Carpentry, Woodworking, Construction Management, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in carpentry production, with 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and plans.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety and quality assurance procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machines or automated woodworking systems.
  • Knowledge of ERP software or production planning tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus (e.g. English and Mandarin/Malay)
