Role Overview The ER/IR Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping a positive, engaged, and progressive work culture across the FairPrice Group (FPG). This role blends strategic leadership with operational excellence in Employee and Industrial Relations, enabling a workplace where people feel valued, respected, and empowered to do their best work; which is in line with our brand promise of Every Day, Made A Little Better for our colleagues, customers, and community. The incumbent serves as FPG’s subject matter expert on all matters related to ER and IR, working closely with business leaders, HR Business Partners, union partners, and external agencies to foster a collaborative and forward-looking industrial climate that supports both people‐wellbeing and business sustainability. The role drives proactive engagement, early intervention, and partnership‐based solutions that make FPG an employer of choice and a trusted labour partner within Singapore’s tripartite ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Strategic ER & IR Leadership: Design, develop, and embed FPG-wide ER & IR policies, frameworks, and tools that reflect our values to champion a proactive, partnership‐based ER/IR philosophy that fosters trust, inclusion, and collaboration across management, unions, and employees. Anticipate emerging workforce and industrial trends, and recommend strategic interventions to strengthen organisational climate and resilience. Industrial Relations Management: Lead and manage all aspects of Industrial Relations (IR), including collective bargaining, union consultation, and dispute resolution. Build and sustain constructive relationships with union leaders and tripartite stakeholders, positioning FPG as a model for progressive labour‐management partnership. Ensure consistent application of fair employment practices and represent FPG in tripartite and regulatory dialogues where appropriate. Employee Relations Excellence: Oversee the handling of disciplinary, grievance, and performance management cases, ensuring due process, fairness, and timely resolution. Work closely with HRBPs and line managers to cultivate a psychologically safe and inclusive environment that promotes early conflict resolution and healthy working relationships. Provide expert advice to business leaders on employee engagement, morale, and communication strategies to strengthen workplace harmony. Policy, Compliance & Advisory: Lead the development, review, and enforcement of all employment and workplace policies, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with evolving labour legislation. Partner with Legal and HR teams to manage complex ER/IR risks, ensuring FPG’s reputation and people culture are safeguarded. Culture, Capability & Change Enablement: Support organisation‐wide culture and behavioural change initiatives that embed FPG’s Growth Mindset in Action values into daily leadership and people practices. Coach and train supervisors on effective employee relations, grievance handling, and people engagement strategies. Success Profile A credible and trusted advisor to business leaders and union partners, with deep experience in Singapore’s industrial relations landscape.
