About the Role:
We are partnering with a reputable company in the Commodities and Agri industry to hire an experienced Commercial Legal Expert. If you have a strong background in international legal practice, a passion for commercial and cross-border legal work, and experience in the Commodities and Agri industry this is your opportunity to make a significant impact in this newly created position.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and commercial agreements (including EPC contracts, O&M agreements, financing agreements). They will also advise internal teams on legal and regulatory issues, identify legal risks, and provide business-oriented solutions. The role involves monitoring legal and regulatory developments affecting global operations, supporting legal compliance in areas such as data privacy, trade law, international sanctions, and export controls. Additionally, the Commercial Legal Expert will handle legal claims and disputes, support resolution strategies, and litigation where necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and commercial agreements (EPC contracts, O&M agreements, financing agreements).
- Advise internal teams on legal and regulatory issues.
- Proactively identify legal risks and provide business-oriented solutions.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting global operations.
- Support legal compliance in areas such as data privacy, trade law, international sanctions, and export controls.
- Handle legal claims and disputes, supporting resolution strategies and litigation where necessary.
Requirements:
- LLB or equivalent.
- 8-15 years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firms and in-house roles.
- Proven experience in commodities, agri-business, or related sectors.
- Solid exposure to Southeast Asian markets, especially Indonesia, Thailand, and Japan (a plus).
- Strong understanding of international contracts and cross-border legal frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
